Oh I do love both autumn and winter because I can stay inside in the warm with the fire going and be crafty and clever and not feel distracted by the sun beckoning me outdoors. I do venture out occassionally with my camera in hand when I walk my dogs as the countryside tends to come alive at this time of year and I love to capture it on camera. Also I love to cook wholesome winter meals in our woodstove and I wear my slippers all day long and I feel happy and contented knowing when night falls I can soak in a long hot bath and wrap myself in my snug dressing gown and it is bliss.
Well that’s life in a perfect world; bliss and mostly mine is but when winter comes along I do feel somewhat at a crossroads. I don’t know why but it tends to happen to me every year and I am thinking maybe it is just the lack of sunshine.
Maybe I get a bit stir crazy spending so much time indoors.
I love change and I’m not keen on constant routine. Anyway I am not complaining as I have decided to venture down a different path for a while, it’s the path of weddings and brides and lace and all things nice. I thought this will give me the adventure and change I am looking for and keep me happy for a while.
Some clever crafty folk collect fabrics, I tend to collect fabric and lace and buttons and thimbles and all things haberdashery, so I thought it was about time I started using what I had instead of just buying more and more and more. I must be a romantic at heart as I have this dreamy love affair with vintage lace. It conjurs up feelings of femininity, love and old world romance and charm.
I still believe in love and romance even though my heart been broken more times than I care to remember.
I am willing to part with my collection of lovley lace if I know the recipient will love it as much as I do and you know what I reckon brides would, don’t you? So I have decided after my last wedding dress project was so enjoyable and successful to continue making wedding dresses and wedding day accessories for lovely brides.
So here is a little bit of what I have been up to lately.
Firstly this is just a small part of my lace stash, I collect old lace and new. I particularly love ivory and cream and my all time favourite peach and/or apricot colours.
So pretty and girly and feminine aren’t they?
Psst, here is another tiny snippet of what I have been up to lately, I have been refashioning an old style wedding dress and carefully hand stiching vintage lace onto it with invisible thread. I must admit invisible thread is amazing, I have used it for all sorts of things lately ie: to mend holes in lace and attach all sorts of intricate and fine detailed lace to this wedding dress.
How sweet is that….
Just before I go, do come for a walk with me outdoors and let me show you what I have found this autumn and winter.
Stay safe and warm and enjoy winter wherever you are and please do let me know if you would like a wedding garter.

What a shame my wedding has already been – the garters are lovely, I would have wanted one. I also have a real thing for lace – vintage is best. I just got given an entire trash bag full of small pieces of lace, some stretch, some not and am thinking what to do with them. Always lovely to visit your blog and the photos of your place are just lovely.
Oh thank you Naomi and it’s so lovely to hear you too are a fan of lace, fancy recieving a whole trash bag full. What a wonderful gift, please let met know what you end up making with it.
